Suffering is such a foreign concept to the western church. It is actually a normal part of the life of a true believer. You are not above the Master, are you? Do you think you can have the crown without the Cross? Do not believe that suffering is because you are out of God's will, for that is a lie of the enemy, nor do I cause your suffering.
Look throughout My word and you will see how the trials and tribulations of life were used in each of My servants. Learn from them. They are there for your comfort and edification. They are there to train you in righteousness, for you are an overcomer. Let suffering conform you into the image of My Son.
All of My children will suffer in this world, so suffer well. Keep your eyes focused on Me, so that I will receive the glory. Do not let the trials embitter you, nor believe the lie that I do not love you. I am always with you and I will never forsake you. I am the fourth Man in the fire. Therefore, suffer well and you will emerge without a trace of smoke. Instead you will be purified and reflect My glory.
Acts 5:40-42 New Century Version (NCV)
40 They called the apostles in, beat them, and told them not to speak in the name of Jesus again. Then they let them go free. 41 The apostles left the meeting full of joy because they were given the honor of suffering disgrace for Jesus. 42 Every day in the Temple and in people’s homes they continued teaching the people and telling the Good News—that Jesus is the Christ.
Romans 8:16-18 Amplified Bible (AMP)
16 The Spirit Himself testifies and confirms together with our spirit [assuring us] that we [believers] are children of God. 17 And if [we are His] children, [then we are His] heirs also: heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ [sharing His spiritual blessing and inheritance], if indeed we share in His suffering so that we may also share in His glory.
18 For I consider [from the standpoint of faith] that the sufferings of the present life are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us!
Philippians 1:27-30 Amplified Bible (AMP)
27 Only [be sure to] lead your lives in a manner [that will be] worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I do come and see you or remain absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit [and one purpose], with one mind striving side by side [as if in combat] for the faith of the gospel. 28 And in no way be alarmed or intimidated [in anything] by your opponents, for such [constancy and fearlessness on your part] is a [clear] sign [a proof and a seal] for them of [their impending] destruction, but [a clear sign] for you of deliverance and salvation, and that too, from God. 29 For you have been granted [the privilege] for Christ’s sake, not only to believe and confidently trust in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30 [and so you are] experiencing the same [kind of] conflict which you saw me endure, and which you hear to be mine now.
