THE DANGERS OF SELF-PITY

Do not give in to feeling sorry for yourself, for it only leads to complaining, murmuring and grumbling---the opposite of an attitude of thankfulness and gratitude. Regardless of what it looks like in the natural, do not give in to self-pity, for it is a huge trap the enemy has set for you.
Your life is hidden in Christ, which means you must take on His attitudes and ways of living. There is no room for self when you are living from this vantage point. It is not that I don't care about you, but your flesh only cares for itself. Like a toddler throwing a temper-tantrum, it can never be satisfied. This is why self-pity is so destructive. It is focused on self and it is dangerous in that it judges Me. Your flesh will say that I am not good when it does not get its way.
Likewise, Adam and Eve were tempted and believed the same lie in the garden---that I was holding out on them. Then their eyes were opened when they literally swallowed the lie. This is why you cannot entertain any thoughts from your flesh. Your plumb line must be My Word. Otherwise, you will be susceptible to deception. Whether it makes sense to your natural mind matters not. You must submit to My words, for they are life. Walk by the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.
Beware of the enemy’s tactics and give thanks in all things. Again I say, do not complain, but cry out to Me for your deliverance; and while you are waiting, trust Me and do good!
Numbers 11:10 The Message (MSG)
Moses heard the whining, all those families whining in front of their tents. God’s anger blazed up. Moses saw that things were in a bad way.
1 Corinthians 10:5-6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
5 Nevertheless, God was not well-pleased with most of them, for they were scattered along the ground in the wilderness [because their lack of self-control led to disobedience which led to death].
6 Now these things [the warnings and admonitions] took place as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they did.
