MILK OR MEAT

Are you still drinking milk when it is time to move on to solid food? For milk can only satisfy for so long. As an infant must learn to draw nourishment from their mother and then learn how to eat solid food, so must you. At first, the food is hard to swallow. Some foods go down easier than others, but you need a variety in order to receive proper nutrition.

Although you want to spit out some of My Word, you must take it all in. Chew on it. Let it digest thoroughly. Take the time to taste the food I am offering you. Do not refuse what I say is good for you, for My Words truly release life.

No longer be tossed to and fro by the delicacies the world offers you. For though they may taste sweet at first, they will become bitter if you swallow these empty lies. For what I offer brings healing and health to your body, soul and spirit.

Jesus said, Eat My Body. Drink My Blood. Does this offend you? For I say the same to you. Only through My Son can you find life, and only through My Spirit can you truly live. Come then, taste and see that the Lord is good!

Isaiah 28:9 New International Reader's Version (NIRV)

The Lord’s people are making fun of him. They say,

“Who does he think he’s trying to teach?

Who does he think he’s explaining his message to?

Is it to children who do not need their mother’s milk anymore?

Is it to those who have just been taken from her breast?

Matthew 23:23-24 The Message (MSG)

23-24 “You’re hopeless, you religion scholars and Pharisees! Frauds! You keep meticulous account books, tithing on every nickel and dime you get, but on the meat of God’s Law, things like fairness and compassion and commitment—the absolute basics!—you carelessly take it or leave it. Careful bookkeeping is commendable, but the basics are required. Do you have any idea how silly you look, writing a life story that’s wrong from start to finish, nitpicking over commas and semicolons?

Hebrews 5:12-14 Living Bible (TLB)

12-13 You have been Christians a long time now, and you ought to be teaching others, but instead you have dropped back to the place where you need someone to teach you all over again the very first principles in God’s Word. You are like babies who can drink only milk, not old enough for solid food. And when a person is still living on milk it shows he isn’t very far along in the Christian life, and doesn’t know much about the difference between right and wrong. He is still a baby Christian! 14 You will never be able to eat solid spiritual food and understand the deeper things of God’s Word until you become better Christians and learn right from wrong by practicing doing right.

1 Corinthians 3:1-4 The Message (MSG)

1-4 But for right now, friends, I’m completely frustrated by your unspiritual dealings with each other and with God. You’re acting like infants in relation to Christ, capable of nothing much more than nursing at the breast. Well, then, I’ll nurse you since you don’t seem capable of anything more. As long as you grab for what makes you feel good or makes you look important, are you really much different than a babe at the breast, content only when everything’s going your way? When one of you says, “I’m on Paul’s side,” and another says, “I’m for Apollos,” aren’t you being totally infantile?
