CEASE STRIVING

Picture a parent with an infant who is crying due to his frustration and fatigue. Sometimes a good nap is all that is needed, but he refuses to give in. Sometimes being held closely is all that is needed to settle down and take that much needed nap. Upon waking, he is ready to face the world again. Everything seems to come into perspective. More often than not, he has completely forgotten the previous episode and is ready to move on to new adventures.

Oh, that you would respond the same way, laying your burdens at My feet and trusting Me to work things out. I wish you would trust Me to give wisdom, understanding and direction for every problem you face. But when you obsess over a situation and fail to involve Me, I must take you kicking and screaming until you settle down again.

Wouldn't it be better to trust Me rather than fight and struggle? And if you refuse, then what happens? Even more frustration. It is a no-win battle until you yield, isn't it? Surrender. Rest in Me and My goodness. Rest in My promises to you, for surely they are yes and amen.

Psalm 46:10 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

“Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

Psalm 55:22 Living Bible (TLB)

Give your burdens to the Lord. He will carry them. He will not permit the godly to slip or fall.

Isaiah 41:13 Living Bible (TLB)

I am holding you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God—and I say to you, Don’t be afraid; I am here to help you.

Psalm 23:4 International Children’s Bible (ICB)

Even if I walk through a very dark valley, I will not be afraid because you are with me. Your rod and your shepherd’s staff comfort me.
