When you accepted the blood sacrifice of My Son, Jesus, we entered into a covenant. You gave Me everything—your heart, your mind, your will, your emotions, your very being! We are now joined together. You are the bride of Christ.
However, many of My children have soul ties to their past. They are bound by ties that cannot be seen in the physical; nevertheless, they are there. Just like a bride and groom willingly give themselves to each other; so whenever you are bound to any person, or you have given yourself over to anything not of Me and My Kingdom, you have developed a soul tie which must be renounced. You must break this tie so that you can love Me with your whole heart and soul.
When you give yourself to anything other than Me, you are in effect giving in to idolatry. Idolatry is putting anything before Me. Anything in your thoughts, will, emotions and actions that are not in alignment with My Word is idolatry. In essence, you have given yourself to another lover. You have made a god out of something other than Me. This can happen with good things, too. Nevertheless, if it comes before Me, it is an idol.
Consecrate yourself to Me once again and willingly loose these soul ties that you have formed. Have no other gods before Me. Come back to Me, My love, for I am a jealous God. I will not share you with any other, for you are Mine and Mine alone.
1 Corinthians 10:13-14 New Century Version (NCV)
13 The only temptation that has come to you is that which everyone has. But you can trust God, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you can stand. But when you are tempted, he will also give you a way to escape so that you will be able to stand it.
14 So, my dear friends, run away from the worship of idols.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 Amplified Bible (AMP)
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
